Schools

Most schools experience workplace injuries with their maintenance and cleaning staff, but sometimes losses develop in unexpected areas.

  • Case Study

Our client, a local college, enjoyed favorable loss history for many years until we began to notice an increase in their claim activity.

    The Challenge

We determined that the increase in claim activity was due to slips and falls from the professional staff walking to and from various buildings on campus.

    The Result

At a monthly safety committee meeting, we presented an overview of the loss sources, which included poorly maintained icy driveways and walkways. We outlined specific corrective actions, such as more thorough snow and ice removal, along with the purchase of ice traction cleats for employees. After the client implemented our recommendations they experienced a significant reduction in overall claims frequency, from a high of 26 claims per year to a new low of four claims per year.
